LONDON: DAN WITZ PRISONERS

New York based artist Dan Witz has his solo show Prisoners 2012-2013 at Lazarides Rathbone Place Gallery which runs until 23rd February.
The show features paintings from both his Prisoner and Moshpit series.
While the Moshpit paintings are a stunning multi-figure experience which capture the attention and portray the energy of a moving body of people, the real treat is at the back of the gallery in the Prisoners work.
Dan joined forces with Amnesty International for the Prisoners series and these disturbing subjects are not just a figment of imagination, they are real prisoners with names and case histories.

RAE: NOCTURNAL TRIPS

artbleat took the promised trip to east London on Thursday night to have a look at Signal Gallery's opening show of the year, and Rae's work didn't disappoint. Neither did the evening, you always get a good welcome at signal and they always throw a good bash, even laying on (at no extra cost ) a celebrity barman.
Have a look at the artbleat facebook page HERE for more photos of the evening, and hit that damn Like Button when you get there.

LONDON ART FAIR

This week sees the start of the London art fair at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
I guess this year will be no different from previous years in that you will have to hunt out the gems among the usual collection of over priced tat and scores of Damien Hurst spot and butterfly prints.

Despite that, it's always worth a look, a couple of galleries to hunt out are Jealous and art fair first timers Ink-d. Jealous are occupying two stands as Jealous Gallery (G7) and Jealous editions (G45) where you will find (I Guess) a fair bit of Charming Baker, Russel Marshall and Amanda Marie to name a few.

Ink-d (G12) from Brighton will be bringing some work from James Cauty, Stanly Donward and Carrie Reichardt, If you saw and liked the mosaic bonnet that was at Herrods over Christmas then you will need to have a look here.

Another worthy of mention is Scream (G2) who will be showing some work by Static.

TICKET GIVEAWAY
So this year is no different to last, I have a couple of tickets to give away. These tickets can be used from Wednesday 15th to Sunday 20th January. Each ticket admits two people.
Check the LAF website HERE for opening times.
The tickets are from the good people at Jealous so pop along at say hi and tell them where you got them (or  I might not get any more next year)
If you would like one then please email me at harry@artbleat.co.uk
FIRST COME FIRST SERVED...........All Tickets are now gone, thank's for the emails.... Enjoy the Fair..

MIMI YOON: MISFIT

Well there you go, it didn't take me long to find something that I like in 2013.
1XRun have just dropped a print and a bagfull of paintings by Mimi Yoon.
BUT.. in the middle of the collection of what I would describe as "not really my kind of art" shines this beautiful painting, wonderfully subversive. Sadly coming just a few days from Christmas there is no cash in the artbleat purse to entice her into my home.
