STEAL FROM WORK SHOP

Steal from work have a shop open online with some special work.
This is how they explain it:
"We had a sort out last week and after doing so many shows and hooking up with so many great artists and found we had loads of great art just kicking round the office, when it really should be on someones wall.
So we've spent the best part of a week taking photos (much harder than you'd think) and fiddling with this Internet thing and have finally (touch wood) managed to get it all online, well most of it anyway"

My pick of the bunch is the 60cm X 30cm Acrylic on canvas from CEPT above for £500
However there is lots of original work as well as prints from the likes of Rowdy, Cyclops, C125, Cept, Guy Denning, Dan, Motorboy, Richt, SPQR, Twinkle and Tinsel and more

EVERYONE HAS GONE TO BRISTOL

Banksy has announced his Summer Show starting today at the Bristol Museum as the world and his wife already know, however it looks like Notbanksy is going to be around in Bristol as well. This note (below) has appeared on their website with a not to cryptic one line addition on the freebie page that points to some art drops to maybe confuse the Banksy fans a little.

But not to be outdone Continuitybanksy have put a statement online via a link in a mailout from L-13 that reads"

IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT "NOT BANKSY" HAS TURNED INTO SOME KIND OF F*CK*NG SAINT INTENT ON GIVING SHIT AWAY AND RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE US CHECK OUT WWW.NOTBANKSY.CO.UK.THE OCCUPATION OF SUCH HIGH MORAL GROUND IS INTOLERABLE TO THOSE OF US INTENT ON PURSUING THE TRUE NATURE OF GUERILLA ART. WHICH IS AFTER ALL.... SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL BRAZIL

Edge Art will open the doors on their latest Small is Beautiful event at 11am this morning, featuring artists from Brazil and promising small sized originals with nothing over £150. The last small is beautiful sale threw up some quality work at very good prices and I expect this to do the same.
Artists include: Anjo, Binho Martins, Cena7, Cesar Profeta, Emol, Feik, Gejo, GEN, João Henrique, Lia Fenix, Mateus Bonini, NICK, ONIO, P R ! ,Rodrigo Obranco, Tikka, Suzue, Virgílio Neto, Zeila.

This is how the Edge Art explain it:
"Brazil; “the most original graffiti scene to emerge in the past decade” (Tristan Manco) - Take a walk through Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or and of Brazil’s sprawling cities and graffiti art is everywhere you look, covering walls, buildings, stairways, trains and anywhere else however inaccessible. Often on a huge scale these murals give colour and vibrancy to the streets they are on. What is not seen often is the skill these artists have when their work makes the translation to not just a smaller wall or canvas, but to a much smaller scale than that. Small Is Beautiful - Brazil brings together over twenty of Brazil’s finest graffiti artists who will be producing small, beautiful artwork costing no more than £150 on paper, un-stretched canvas, cardboard and wood for an online exhibition showcasing their unique skills. These works will be available to both view and purchase from 8th June 2009 with new artwork periodically added until 12th July at www.edgeart.co.uk"

KNOW HOPE STUFF

Know Hope has his largest and most detailed indoor installation opening on Thursday June 4th at The Carmichael Gallery in L.A.
Incorporating 30,000 paper raindrops. 40,000 feet of fishing twine. 2,500 fishing weights. Hundreds of sheets of cardboard fashioned into miniature works of art and a crowd of life-size cut-out characters. If like me you cant be there (maybe because you live on the other side of the world) there is a preview with prices HERE
As an added extra I just got this from the gallery
"Know Hope has inserted his own mini-paper, The Anytimes, into various publications in news boxes and stands on the streets of Los Angeles. The Anytimes is a special work of art featuring poetry, ponderings, and classic imagery by one of Israel's most important young contemporary voices. Not many copies of The Anytimes exist, however, and no one except Know Hope knows exactly where they have been placed, so be sure to spread the word about this exciting project. You'll need to run to the newsstand yourself to make sure you get one!" (Below)
